Spring Term 1, Week 6
Mrs Daly has commented how ecstatic she is with how hard we work to be the best we can be – we are half way through our first school year. For our Explorers topic this week, we have launched off into Space.
We have been outside to create an amazing universe – using our phonic knowledge of planets to confidently mark make and write names of things we know about space.
We have been REACHing in all areas of our learning, and Mrs Daly has loved getting to meet and talk with all our parents to share how amazing we are – we are all special and unique!
With great love and many well wishes we said farewell to Mrs Piper – wishing her lots of luck in her new role at a local college.
Mrs Barron’s inspiring Lent Retreat has filled our hearts with Faith, Hope and Love, giving us a greater understanding of this season of preparation.
This week have also been focusing on 'Being Safe Online' through Internet Safer Day and also looking at our own mental well-being through the book focus of 'The Colour Monster' empathetically sharing and talking about our feelings and making our own colour monsters with string paint art skills for Children Mental Health Week.
Wishing you all a wonderful Half Term Break.

We have been excited to use our fine motor skills for finger painting birds as part of our Bird Watch in Outdoor Learning.

In Music we have been mark making music maps with high expectations, sharing how the music makes us feel, and what reflecting one what we like and don’t like about different pieces of music.

Spring Term 1, Week 4
Where is this term going?! Mrs Daly has been celebrating how fabulous we all are this week, saying how amazed she is at how each of us are applying our REACH values to our learning.
We have been carefully sounding out and blending CVC and polysyllabic words with resilience and confidence. Polysyllabic words are this words we can ‘break’ to help us make the sounds ‘Yasmin’ ‘Yas / min’ and ‘metal’ ‘met / al’.
We have been applying this confidence to our writing of skills, showing high expectations – especially when writing the letter ‘h’ in the grapheme ‘sh’ making sure it is a tall letter and doesn’t look like an ‘n’.
We have joyfully been retelling the story of feeding the 5000 to Mrs Daly, after we baked bread and made fish during our RE with Mrs Guoite, reflecting on the love and hope Jesus brings to the world.
In PE we are really enjoying using our bodies to create shapes, this week we thought about train and made tunnels showing our aspirational strength, balance and coordination.
We have continued weaving this week, and really enjoyed having Mrs Blanch our CEO come in and join us for a short time during our REACH activity – thank you Mrs Blanch.
For Maths we have been looking at capacity, knowing how many objects it takes to fill a container, as well as knowing that 6 is made of 5 and 1 more, and 7 is made of 5 and 2 more - we have such confidence with our number work.
We are so excited for a new topic board we have been working on…we think you will be blown away when you come to see it at parents evenings.
Spring Term 1, Week 3
This week we have been confidently using our maths skills to show and partition 5, we have focused this learning around 5 little speckled frogs to help us with our partitioning and created our own frog pools. We also used our resilience as we explored mass, and using ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ to balance a scale. “The mass of the marble is 7 cubes”.
In Literacy we focused on being empathetic as we considered quizzing the characters from our book ‘The Rainbow Fish’ and recalling and using the Tier Two words: ‘sparkling’, ‘gliding’, ‘admire’, ‘emerged’, ‘discover’, and ‘peculiar’.
In RE we learnt about how Jesus said ‘Let the Children Come’, knowing we felt loved and happy. We went on a pray walk, looking around the school for areas where our faith is visible and shared joint prayers.
In Outdoor Learning we have enjoyed continuing exploring winter in nature, and empathetically helping our birds with by making some bird feeders using apples and raisins.
We are finishing up our Marbling notebooks we have made, and are excited to bring home this aspirational work, we think you will be very impressed with our new skills!
Happy Birthday Rosie!
