This week in St Peter's Class, we learned to retell a fable: The Boy Who Cried Wolf. We really enjoyed learning about the moral of the story and learning to write in paragraphs.
We have continued to learn how to tell the time in our Maths lessons - it has proven to be a tricky topic but we are continuing to practise as much as we can!
In Outdoor Learning, we ventured outside to spot signs of Spring. We saw a selection of wildflowers, daffodils, bird feeders and much more! Take a look at the photos below.

This week is Science Week at St Joseph's. We've had such a fun week, learning all about how planes fly and how to make CD Racers.
During Class Prayers this week, we decided to write a class prayer about why we are grateful for Science:
Dear God and Jesus,
Thank you for the plants and animals that are on our planet, and for giving them a habitat. Thank you for the trees that give us oxygen to help us breathe. Without the plants and trees, it would be hard for us to live.
Thank you for making us – otherwise, we would not have technology. We are thankful for technology because it helps us to learn important things and we can play fun games. Thank you for the scientists that have created important experiments. If it wasn’t for scientists, we would not have electronics.
Thank you for giving us legs so we can walk around the earth. Thank you for the shape of our bodies and giving us hands to write with.
Thank you for the wildlife and our pets. Thank you for the bees that make honey, which we can enjoy. We love playing with our pets in our homes and outside in nature.
Thank you for giving us seeds to plant so that trees can grow. Thank you for the food we can eat and enjoy. Thank you for giving us water to drink so that we can stay hydrated.
Thank you for the bees, the trees, the seas and my knees!
And thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross for us.
Help us to REACH through Faith, Hope and Love.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

We have had a truly fun-packed week this week in St Peter's Class.
In English, we continued learning all about Fantasy Stories, and we learned to retell the Chocolate Fairytale story (based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).
In our History learning, we put our detective caps on to have a look at a variety of sources from the Great Fire of London, making decisions about which ones were the most useful in providing details about the fire.
And, finally, on World Book Day, we enjoyed lots of Reading For Pleasure time (whilst dressed up as a character linked to our class emotions!), and we used the emotions we were assigned to write acrostic poems. The children chose to write about Naughtiness, Excitement or Fear.

What a fun-filled week we've had in St Peter's Class!
We celebrated the week of Awe and Wonder, in which we focused on the Islam religion. As such, in our Science lessons, we learned all about scientist Ammar ibn Ali Al-Mawsili, who changed the medicine industry for the better through his invention of the hypodermic needle. We enjoyed using pipettes to practise dispensing drops of water into different sized circles. The smaller circles proved to be quite tricky!
In DT this week, we learned how to join two pieces of material together using a running stitch, in preparation for making our hand puppets.
Finally, in Outdoor Learning, we read the next part of our class book, before venturing outside to create miniature houses for The Minpins.

This week is Mental Health Week, and we took some time to reflect on what we can do to help us feel calm and happy. Alongside our whole school Mental Health Assembly, we enjoyed some mindful colouring whilst listening to relaxing music, as well as an activity that encouraged us to think about what helps us grow into strong and resilient people.
On Friday, we continued our photography learning, in which we explored how to make improvements to photos we have taken outside. We also worked with the amazing Sarah to practise our 'Africa or Antarctica' themed Rain Dance, which we will be performing to the school next week!
Have a look at the photos below.

It’s been another fun and busy week here in St Peter’s Class!
In English, we started learning about Poetry. We learned a poem called ‘The Sound Collector’, and then used our skills and creativity to make substitutions and write our own version!
In Music, we became rock musicians and sung along to ‘We Will Rock You’ by Queen, and played along to the beat using maracas and tambourines.
We also had lots of fun in our Science lesson this week, where we conducted our own experiment. We planted grass seeds in four pots, and will be finding out what happens when we remove light, soil and water.
We had another fantastic dance lesson on Friday – we continued learning our Rain Dance, which is inspired by our ‘Africa or Antarctica?’ topic.

It's been another busy week here in St Peter's Class! We've been practising multiplication and division in Maths, and exploring poetry in English.
Today, Friday 24th, we continued learning our new dance routine in P.E, which aligns with our Africa and Antarctica topic in Geography. We also polished our skills in taking photographs on a tablet - it was a lot of fun! See the photos below.
St Peter's Spring Term Blog
What a busy and exciting start to the term we have had in St Peter's Class! We have demonstrated our confidence when approaching some new topics of learning, including Geometry (Position and Direction), Dance, and Computing!
In our Outdoor Learning this week, we selected some natural materials and arranged them inside a hoop. Then, we took a picture of them and used them to help us create some William Morris-inspired artwork. Take a look at the photos below:
